Shortlisted for Treehugger Best Green Style Twitter Feed Award

In Ethical Fashion, Journal, Social Change, Technology

I have been nominated for an award for my twitter stream!

It’s the time of the Treehugger Best of Green Readers Choice Awards 2011. I have been nominated in the fashion and beauty section as ‘Best Style Twitter Feed.’ It’s a huge honour to be nominated with some of the coolest twitterers from across the pond. All the others on the shortlists are based in the US or Canada, and are either magazines, or run non-profits/magazines, including Ecouterre, who I of course write for.

I was not in anyway sure about twitter when I first started tweeting for Ethical Fashion Forum back in 2009, and then shortly after I took up the tweeting for Hub Kings Cross, I realised that I wanted to tweet for myself as well. I think it is a really amazing tool for sharing information, and ideas, and am pleased to be contributing by allowing people to find out about things ethical fashion related and more that they might not have heard about otherwise. I think that it is playing a really vital part in growing the ethical fashion movement. I make an effort to tweet and re-tweet every day (often prolifically) about ethical fashion, whether it is sharing news of new brands, new souring models, my daily outfit, or articles that I have written or found. I follow people involved in the ethical fashion industry from all over the world, and always tweet on ethical fashion trips, such as visiting various factories in Gujarat, or attending shows at New York Fashion Week.

It really means a lot that people find my twitter stream useful, and find out about things they wouldn’t have done without it, or learn something completely new. So thank you if you are following. And I just wanted to say for people involved in ethical fashion, if I am not currently following you, or if you would like me to tweet your news, do let me know.

So you know what comes next, please vote for me, and spread the word. Voting closes on April 1st.

Vote here and if you are not already, follow my twitter feed

A message to all members of Ethical Fashion Network:

Support Amisha in the Treehugger Best of Green Awards

This year @amishaghadiali has been nominated for Treehugger’s Best of Green Awards for Best Green Style Feed. As you may know Amisha started working with EFF back in 2008, as production manager of the RE:Fashion Awards, and then as a project manager and later Associate Director of Ethical Fashion Forum. As part of the team, she ran the Spotlight on Sourcing series in 2009, and other projects including setting up this very network. Amisha still works with EFF as a consultant and as a contributor to The SOURCE Magazine. Amisha lives and breathes ethical fashion, and is very active as a consultant, writer and designer. She is committed to raising awareness of the issues, taking advantage of all kinds of moments as a space to get a conversation about sustainability in fashion started.

All of the nominees in the Treehugger awards are incredible supporters of ethical fashion, but Amisha is the only one not from the US or Canada. Her twitter stream is very lively and she offers articles, insights and of course all of your news to create conversations and share information about ethical fashion on twitter.

The winner of the award is being chosen by readers votes, so please show your support and vote for @amishaghadiali – you haven’t got long, voting closes on Friday, April 1st.
