Intelligent Design: Isabell de Hillerin

In Ethical Fashion, Inspiration, Social Change

When I discover a new designer like German Isabell de Hillerin, it reminds be why I am so passionate about ethical fashion.  It provides an opportunity to think through clever design solutions that offer both a creative and desirable aesthetic as well as making a statement about the way that we live.   At The Key To, I came across Isabell and her beautiful clothes, which combine a modern design with traditional Romanian craft and textile work.

On her website, she shares her concept:

In a time where the pulse of the vanguardia captures the world and simultaneously moments increase when individuals cut themselves off, we realize that we are increasingly fading out the marvellous settings that surround us every day. The importance lies in the past and the nostalgia which provokes one to remember.

Our relation to other citizens and urban environment becomes more and more distant and superficial. Our sense of reality is decreasing as well as the awareness about how the material world is constantly influencing us. We are part of a whole, from which we cannot seperate ourselves and this fact defines in many ways what we are.

The information revolution deletes distances. Keywords like accessibility and transparency gained importance. At the same time our fast moving and modern society ruined traditional roots.

Out of sight out of mind. Stop and put a frame around what we`ve forgotten.
Emphasis a new look at fashion. Clothes express one’s feelings and emotions of the world in which one exists.

The designs reflect a rebellious response to our modern system called life.
