Amisha Ghadiali is a speaker, writer and yoga teacher.
Founder of jewellery label and conscious living blog, amisha \\ elegance rebellion, and of radical think tank, ThinkActVote (?!X), Amisha launched her first book at Rio+20, The Future We Choose, coining the term Creative Activism and bringing together ideas and artwork from over two hundred contributors to inspire a brighter future.
A spokesperson with national and international reach, her writing has appeared in publications including The Huffington Post, Rebelle Society, The Big Issue, and US online Ecouterre. Amisha is a frequent speaker on topics including fashion, political engagement and sustainability at panels and events across the world including TEDx Oxbridge, Wilderness Festival and Sunday Papers Live.
As former Associate Director of the Ethical Fashion Forum, Amisha has a special interest in Sustainable Style, and curates and hosts a series of ‘in conversation with’ events called Future Fashion dedicated to the politics of dressing in an increasingly throwaway world in addition to hosting global sustainable fashion events such as The Source Summit and The Source Awards. At the start of 2012, she launched her 12 Rules To Dress By poster and wardrobe shopping checklist as a free guide to creating and maintaing a sustainable wardrobe. Amisha is interested in transparency and was part of the team behind Provenance and is on a board member of Fashion Revolution Day.
Amisha believes that sustainable living comes from understanding yourself and hence your place in the eco-system and so teaches yoga and meditation around London and on retreats to work with people directly to make this connection.
A true activist, Amisha is an ambassador for the charity Womankind Worldwide where her fundraising activities have included doing stand up comedy and shaving her head. She was on the London City Chapter Board for micro-bartering non-profit Nest working with artisan women, a trustee of the Foundation for Democracy and Sustainable Development and an elected member of the Electoral Reform Society Council.
Amisha’s social entrepreneurship has been recognised by selection to the Cultural Leadership Programme and the Courvoisier Future 500, a Future 100 Award, and, among other honours, a Fellowship of the Royal Society of the Arts, defining her as a dynamic and emerging leader of the space for social change in the 21st century.
